Peggy Ann Sanderson Tryon peacefully slipped from mortality into Paradise on January 15, 2024 at age 75. Peggy was born on May 4, 1948 in Salt Lake City, UT the second of nine children to Lorin and LaRue Sanderson. At an early age, her family moved to San Fernando Valley, CA where she graduated from Canoga Park High School. As her younger siblings were coming in quick succession, Peggy became the nurturer and her mothers big helper to Kenny, Jeff, Wes and Jeni. During her first marriage in California, she bore George Robert and Nichole Annette. She moved to Cedar City, UT in 1975 where she met Robert (Roy) Tryon, her husband of over 48 years. They were sealed in eternal marriage at the St. George Temple on August 15, 1992. Together they are parents of Joshua Aaron (1981) and Matthew Philip (1983). Peggy also shared her love as step mother to Roys children from his previous marriages.
Peggy was a woman of many remarkable talents and skills. Besides being a masterful cook, she was a prodigious knitter. No baby was born in the family or Ward without her knitting them a beautiful large baby blanket, a couple swaddling socks, and a handful of baby wash cloths. No wedding passed without her gifting a dozen of her durable wash cloths. Since she moved here to Cedar City in 2007, she knitted and donated over a dozen of her beautiful baby blankets every year to the Battered Womens Shelter. She loved to read out of the best books. After Josh and Matt entered high school and were able to fend for themselves, she enrolled in community college in California where taking one or two courses per semester, she studied to work in social services and family counseling. She achieved her degree of Associate in Arts, Letters, and Sciences Magna Cum Laude from Antelope Valley College in June 2005 with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
She received her Patriarchal Blessing as an adult where her favorite blessing and admonition was Share your Love! This was best manifest where she reigned as the Worlds Best Grandma to her thirty-four grand children and now eight great-grand children. She knew all their names and birthdays. Up until Covid and later her failing health, Peggys favorite associations were with a group of five older sisters in her neighborhood who called themselves The Golden Girls. Her Church callings included many years teaching in the Primary and Young Womens Organization.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Lorin and LaRue Sanderson, her daughter Nichole Annette, sister Wendy and brothers Phil, Jeff and Kenny. She is survived by her sons Joshua (Holly) Tryon of Colorado Springs, CO, and Matthew (Kimberly) Tryon of Enoch, UT; and brother Lorin Wes Sanderson of Salt Lake City; and sisters June (Dan) Saxton of Battle Ground, WA, Debra (Weldon) Bruce of Pilot Point, TX, and Jenifer Sanderson-Bowles of Mount Pleasant, UT. Roys children and their families include: Robert (Cathy) Farley of Brighton, IA; Amy (Steve) Hart of Woodland Park, CO; Sam (Wendy) Tryon of Riverside, IA; John (Kate) Tryon of Davenport, IA; Hannah (Jeff) Smith of Mt. Pleasant, UT; Rosa (Cleon) Zerkle of Mt. Pleasant, UT; Abraham (Hastings) Sanderson of Orem, UT; and Jessica Sanderson Quinn of Salem, OR.
