Megan Sue Mangus Barth, born in March 1961 to Bennie and Nola Mangus in Bountiful, Utah, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 4, 2026.
Megan was raised in Bountiful by two wonderful parents, both of whom were educators. She grew up loving reading, cooking, and sewing. She attended Viewmont High School and was a National Merit Scholar and member of drill team, which she loved. After graduating high school, she attended Utah State University for a short time before marrying Bill and becoming a mother.
Megan dedicated her time and talent first and foremost to her family. Her children knew they could always count on her, and she was their lifeline through their most wonderful and most difficult days. She walked through life with extraordinary grace and humor. Bill always says he felt like he’d won the jackpot, and he had.
As her four children grew under her love and example, she desired more education and earned a degree in environment and behavior from the University of Utah. She put that degree to work as an architect, designing beautiful, functional homes for hundreds of clients for more than 25 years. Her homes spot the Iron County landscape, as she designed more than 200 homes and several subdivisions in the 9 years she lived there.
Megan loves the Lord, Jesus Christ, and constantly served His children. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served as Cub Scout leader, Primary teacher, Gospel Doctrine teacher, Young Women leader, and in Relief Society presidencies, twice as president. She loved working in the Bountiful Temple. And the service closest to her heart was ministering to many individuals with untiring devotion, loving them in a way that reflected their Savior’s love.
She adored cooking and made many gourmet meals, most of which were delicious—a few flopped just a little; none of those made the food blog. Megan was always learning and experimenting. She was a talented seamstress, making her own clothing and clothes for family, including prom dresses, Halloween costumes, scripture cases, and blankets. She had a special adoration for trees, flowers, and gardening. She was also a voracious reader, with a particular affinity for the scriptures and Tolkien.
Megan is survived by her husband, William S. Barth and children—Amy (Claus) Wittmann, Scott (Kourtney Salvatori) Barth, Neal (Emily) Barth, and Sophie (Tyler) Young—and her 12 beloved grandchildren. She is also survived by her three brothers, Craig (Nadine) Mangus, Brent (Brenda) Mangus, and Kirk (Janice) Mangus, and many nieces and nephews that she adored.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 8 from 7–8 p.m. at the stake center on 725 S 1100 W, Cedar City.
