Jeff Harris

–

Las Vegas, Nevada

Robert Jeffress (Jeff) Harris, a man of remarkable spirit and a zest for life, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. He was born in Seattle, Washington, on October 14,1942 to Henry Jeffress and Harriet Hauge Harris. Jeff attended Army Navy Academy in Oceanside, California, where he excelled in swimming and football. Upon graduation and after attending college, he joined the Navy in 1962; he was honorably discharged in 1966. Jeff worked in the data processing industry his whole career for companies including Mattel, Levi Strauss, Coldwell Banker, and IBM.

After retiring from IBM, Jeff and his wife, Penny Schultz, moved to Las Vegas. An avid motorcyclist, Jeff rode his Harley in all 50 states and wrote a book, Life Behind Bars, about those adventures. Jeff and Penny continued to take motorcycle road trips together. They loved the southwest, spending much of their time at the Grand Canyon and in many national parks in Utah. They also travelled extensively around the world. Jeff’s favorite recent trip was to Tanzania and Zanzibar – he called it a “trip of a lifetime.” Their last trip, taken just months before he passed, was to Singapore and Indonesia.

At home in Las Vegas, Jeff loved to take off with their two dogs into the desert and explore old mines. He also loved to play golf. He’d top the day off with a cocktail and time with friends. By any measure, he had a very full life, a good run. Jeff is survived by his wife of 30 years Penny Schultz, his sister Helen Harris, his son Darin Harris, and his two dogs Dino and Ditto.
