Cedar City, UT
Carol was born in Perth, Australia, where her father, a sailor stationed there at the end of WWII, met her mother, an Australian native. Shortly after, the family moved to the United States, settling in Downey, California. Carol left home at a young age and worked various jobs to support herself.
She married Dale Stafford and welcomed their daughter, Pepper, on May 1, 1965. The family relocated to Milpitas, California, when Dale began a new job in San Jose. Carol gave birth to their son, Gunner, on August 2, 1972, but the marriage ended later that year.
In the course of her career, Carol worked as a cocktail waitress at a bowling alley, where she met Richard, who would become her husband for nearly 50 years. She continued working at the bowling alley, eventually managing the bar. Despite her talent for bowling, Carol chose to prioritize her family over competitive play, bowling only occasionally. Later, she worked at FMC in San Jose as a debut worker.
In 1978, the family moved to Tucson due to a job transfer. Carol began working at IBM as a shipper/packer and was promoted to the role of statistical analysis programmer. In 1986, she and Richard relocated to Chicago for work, where she was involved in an accident that impacted her ability to continue working.
In 1987, Carol and Richard moved to Jefferson, Iowa, to be closer to family. However, the harsh winters prompted another move, this time to Phoenix, Arizona. By 1994, they had settled in Las Vegas, where they enjoyed the Shakespeare Festival, which deepened their affection for Cedar City. They ultimately moved to Cedar City in 2008.
Carol is survived by her sister, Christine; her son, Gunner; her daughter, Pepper; her four grandchildren, Courtney, Andrea, Wyatt, and Echo; and her three great-grandchildren, Piper, Bronwyn, and Carson
